From November 28th to December 31st, 2009
Above all, December in Strasbourg is a huge Christmas market. This year it will celebrate its 440th anniversary, making it the oldest and best known Christmas market. The ambiance in Strasbourg is unique, especially in the late afternoon, when night falls and the magic takes over: the shop windows sparkle, decorations adorn the facades, the smell of spices and cinnamon bring back childhood memories, Christmas carols resonate from churches. The Christmas market covers several streets and squares in the city center, particularly in Place Broglie and Cathedral squares. Hundreds of vendors offer the passersby original gifts and traditional objects to decorate your tree or nativity scene. You can also find something for your sweet tooth: sweets, mulled wine, doughnuts, etc. A giant Christmas tree has also been planted on place Kléber, lots of concerts to make you appreciate the beauty of the cathedral and the city's churches, plenty of activities to make you discover rich Alsatian traditions. As for kids, they will love the fun kid-friendly boat ride.
