Above all, December in Strasbourg is a huge Christmas market. This year it will celebrate its 442th anniversary, making it the oldest and best known Christmas market. The ambiance in Strasbourg is unique, especially in the late afternoon, when night falls and the magic takes over: the shop windows sparkle, decorations adorn the facades, the smell of spices and cinnamon bring back childhood memories, Christmas carols resonate from churches. The Christmas market covers several streets and squares in the city center, particularly in Place Broglie and Cathedral squares.
